Breaking the fast
I work during the night. So after the long dreadful hours of sitting in front of my computer and staring at the big clock, just waiting for my shift to be over. My tasks are done, my report had been sent and the clock strikes “7″… Finally!!! Breakfast time!!!

Breakfast, the first meal of the day, can mean many things to many different people. Any meal that breaks the overnight fast that occurs while we sleep is considered “breakfast”. It is the best way to start a day. It is my social ritual. My friends and I did visited and tried eating on some of the restos here. And i tell you, some of them serves the best food here in Iloilo.
When i don’t go home in my town and decides to stay at the dormitory instead, I usually don’t eat lunch … neither dinner…ahaha. So a good heavy breakfast is something to look forward to after a long night at work. I know I have to break this very bad habit soon. Anyway, I sometimes want to break away from the typical pinoy breakfast that consists of fried rice, egg, and a choice of breakfast meat like tocino, longganisa, or fish.
Let’s see, probably McDonalds, Jollibee, Chowking, Roadhouse and Andoks shouldn’t be out. But i guess these places are just too common to be mentioned in my list. So here are some of the few karinderia who are open at an unearthly hours that offers delectable food at reasonable prices.
1. Kong Kee.
Location: Downtown or at Villa
Famous for their siopao, dimsum, chicken and pancit. The Pancit bihon guisado with sauted onion and garlic, mixed with vegetables, pork and chicken…weheheh…yummeh..
2. Jacel and Thea’s.
Location: Somewhere in Mandurriao
If you want mami, siomai or siopao, this is the place for you. It is a bit expensive though but don’t fret because it’s worth it.
3. Bac’s.
Location: Mandurriao.
Just an ordinary house….but with a big sign “BAC’S” at the main gate, surely you wont miss it. A house and a restaurant rolled into one. What do you call that? A RestoHouse? Anyway, the food is grreeeat. Dinuguan and Kaldereta is the best. It’s a bit spicy which is how I i like it. They also have “Pata” , backribs and chicken.
Of course, breakfast is more enjoyable when it is shared with a good companion. No matter what is on the menu when you are with the right people, things will turn out just… fine.
How about you? Where do you think is the best place to eat good breakfast?
